1km Tandem Highline Word Record
The Path to The Monk: Together through the sky, held by an incredible bond of trust and friendship
In between the dramatic mountain peaks of Shenxianju, China, Mia Noblet and Sascha Grill set their so far hardest world record. Walking in perfect synchronization and holding hands for balance, the duo successfully sent a 980m long highline without a single fall. This achievement nearly doubled the previous world record of 568 meters.
The line was rigged through an otherworldly landscape, ending next to the holy mountain known as „The Monk.“ Over the course of 1 hour and 15 minutes, the pair took approximately 6,840 steps. While tandem walking is often a social activity during their training sessions, this project demanded absolute silence. It was a grueling battle against physical exhaustion, heavy arms, and burning shoulders, where a single second of lost concentration from either athlete would have resulted in a fall for both.
Despite their status as two of the world’s most experienced highliners, this project pushed Mia and Sascha to the absolute limits of their physical and mental capacities.
In the end, it was a profound sense of mutual responsibility that kept them moving. Through the pain, their motivation remained clear: “If I give up, the other falls.” This 1km crossing stands as a testament to world-class endurance and the extraordinary power of shared trust.
Highline World Championships 2024 Laax Switzerland
The biggest competion of the sport
Since 2022, every two years there are all the best higline athelets of the world meeting eachother in Laax in Switzerland, to see who is the fastest and who can do the craziest trickts. There are two disciplines, speedline and freestyle, Sascha Grill is at a very high level in both disciplines, but since a few years he changed his main focus from freestyle to speedline and got rewarded with winning the world championship in speedline in 2024. He not only won the competion but also set a new World record in his final run against Michael Trorrealba from Colombia, with an impressive time of 26.76s for the 60m race distance.
The Slackfactory
A Slackline video- and photography-project in an abandonet factory in Croatia
During a slackline trip to Croatia, my friends and I stumbled across a massive, abandoned aluminum factory. The skeletal buildings and industrial textures were so unique that we decided to do more than just walk, we decided to create.
The result is „The Slackfactory,“ a short film born from the grit of that location. I directed, filmed, and edited the project with the incredible support of Josh Stagg, Antonia Gasperov, Darko Matesic, and Filip Milesevic. Together, we rigged lines between the decaying structures and played out a fun and creative story in this forgotten space. It was a true collaboration of cameras, ideas, and balance.
